​J.D. White  P.L.A.Y.  Foundation Scholarship

At the J.D. White P.L.A.Y. Foundation, part of our commitment to the community is helping young people achieve their dreams, through higher education.  This program grants three scholarships, to graduating seniors to put towards attendance at an institution of higher learning: 1st Place-$2500 2nd Place- $1500 and 3rd Place-$1000


SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS WILL NEED TO MEET

THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS


  • Graduate from high school in May/June of the current school year.
  • Have a Grade Point Average (G.P.A.)  of 3.0 or higher.
  • Entering an accredited college or university located in the United States of America.
  • Submit a complete application packet postmarked by date deadline set.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS

Each scholarship packet will need to include the following components:


  • Application
  • Two letters of recommendation from community leaders and/or educational influences
  • Brief autobiographical statement (not to exceed one page): Please include information on organization affiliations, honors, awards, community activities, athletics, employment or volunteer experience, etc.  Also, include your short and long-term objectives for your educational and career goals.  
  • 300-500 word essay on the topic "The importance of obtaining, a higher education: How It Impacts Young Adults and Their Future." The essay should be typed-handwritten entries will not be received. Please note that grammar and spelling will be considered.
